The Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) treatment process for Oil- Contaminated Drill Cuttings used by DEL is characterized by:
- Indirect thermal stripping process whereby the oily cuttings are heated in a controlled chamber to a temperature of 325C, or 500C for heavier oils, to enable the extraction of liquids.
- Fully computerized controlled process.
- Minimal oil residue on treated cuttings (Cleaned Cuttings) down to less than 0.5 % - (DPR requirement)
- Recovery of oil without altering the molecular structure due to unique controlled process. Reuse of recovered oil for formulation of new drilling fluid.
- Recycling of recovered water.
